Maitri Dharma
What is Maitri Dharma?
For those who may be new to the Maitri Dharma, we welcome you here from our hearts. In simple terms, the Maitri Dharma encompasses all of the beautiful teachings offered by Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha Guru and offers us, and all beings, the chance to return to our purest and most pristine state of consciousness.
By offering the Maitri Dharma Pathway, Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha Guru offers us the chance to reconnect with our own divine potential, through the blessings of the Paramatma Gurus, so that all beings may be liberated from the continuous cycle of rebirth and suffering.
By practising the Maitri Dharma and by aligning ourselves with the Guru, we are able to receive many great blessings as we move forwards into more love, purity, unity and happiness.
So far on this Maitri Dharma Pathway, Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha Guru has shared a number of different Maitri Dharma Practices (such as prayers, mantras and precepts) which can all help to awaken a deeper feeling of ‘Maitri’ from within. In addition to this, Guru has also given the Book Of Maitri Dharma and a number of speeches that can be read, contemplated and digested as each person feels guided to.
Who is Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha Guru?
At the age of fifteen, Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha Guru walked into the jungles of Nepal to complete a 6 year intensive period of tapas (intensive meditation / extreme penance) without food or water. During this time, Guru received a countless number of blessings, teachings and realisations from the Paramātma Gurus.
Having completed this extreme period of tapas (in May 2011), Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha Guru has now started to share these divine teachings, realisations & practices and these are now commonly referred to as the ‘Maitri Dharma’. Guru’s teachings can also be referred to as Bodhimarga darshan Maitridharma, The Maitri Marga or Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha.
Since the completion of Guru’s extreme tapas, the Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha Organisation of Nepal has organised and hosted many Great Blessing Ceremonies (Maha Darshans) & World Peace Maitri Prayer Events (Pujas) which have allowed many thousands of devotees to visit Nepal and pay homage to this awe-inspiring Guru.

How can I start practising Maitri Dharma?
In the past few years, Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha Guru has shared a variety of Maitri Dharma teachings with the world in the form of speeches, prayers, mantras, precepts and the Maitri Book. Therefore, to start ‘practising’ the Maitri Dharma, we lovingly invite you to have a read through the material being presented here on the bsds.org website and simply start practising in a way that feels right for you.
The bsds.org website is the official website of the Maitri Dharma and of Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha Guru and is therefore the best place to find updated information, announcements and teachings as they continue to be given.
For those wishing to connect with other Maitri Dharma practitioners around the world, we invite you to do this using the various social networks shown here or for those wishing to get involved with BSDS NZ, please contact us here for more information.
Understanding Maitri Dharma terminology
When opening up to the Maitri Dharma, you will no doubt come across a few ‘non-english’ words or terminologies that may be a little difficult to understand. You can find the definitions for such words in the Glossary at the end of the Book Of Maitri Dharma.
Please note that as you progress on your Maitri Dharma Pathway, you will often be guided towards a deeper and more profound understanding about these words.
If you have any further questions about the Maitri Dharma or terminologies, please feel free to contact us for further information or you can also connect with other Maitri Dharma Practitioners around the world (social network links are here). Shaigi Wayinkya.
BSDS (NZ Chapter)
What are the main aims of BSDS NZ?
The New Zealand Chapter of Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha is lovingly offered through the Maitri Foundation, a registered charity dedicated to sharing the Bodhimarga darshan Maitridharma in New Zealand, with the blessings of Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha Guru.
The purpose of the Maitri Foundation is to share and inspire an understanding of the Bodhimarga darshan Maitridharma by:
- Sharing the Bodhimarga darshan Maitridharma freely and with love including prayers, mantras, teachings and other materials as required.
- Establishing and managing the affairs of the New Zealand Chapter of Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha.
- Establishing and maintaining a Maitri Centre in New Zealand.
- Leading and/or supporting a variety of Bodhimarga darshan Maitridharma projects in New Zealand.
- Maintaining a loving and supportive relationship with Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha Guru and with other Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha chapters & organisations as they continue to develop around the world.
- Sharing a variety of Maitri inspired concepts, ideas and offerings that help to promote a Maitri way of life.
Is there a Maitri Centre in NZ?
One of the main focuses of the New Zealand Chapter of Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha is to create, establish and maintain a Maitri Centre here in New Zealand, with the blessings of Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha. For further information on the progress of the NZ Maitri Centre you can visit the Maitri Centre Project (NZ) webpage and see progress updates on the Maitri Centre Progress Updates webpage.
May this Maitri Centre be a place of infinite loving kindness, compassion, peace, unity, wisdom, forgiveness, surrender, faith, devotion, non-discrimination and purity and may all visitors be welcomed into this beautiful Maitri light with open arms and with much love.
For those who may be interested in helping, we invite you to contact us for more information.
How can I get involved with BSDS NZ?
The New Zealand Chapter of Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha has been established to help share the Maitri Dharma in New Zealand. As part of this, we welcome all New Zealanders into this beautiful new Maitri feeling, with much loving kindness.
As a newly established chapter of Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha, we welcome all, including those who are interested to help, volunteer or assist in some way. In order to help you understand more about how you can help, here is a short list of ideas and suggestions:
- Learning & practising: One of the best ways that you can start helping is to start learning, practising and living in alignment with the Maitri Dharma, as best you can. By practising the Maitri Dharma, you will often be guided towards connecting with this new feeling of loving kindness, purity and oneness in your own life and you can very naturally start to radiate this feeling outwards for all to benefit from. Therefore, for anyone who is interested in ‘sharing’ the Maitri Dharma, reading the Book Of Maitri Dharma and doing the Maitri Dharma practices is a great place to start.
- Living in alignment with your heart: To live in alignment with your heart is a very important part of the Maitri Dharma Pathway. As we continue practising the Maitri Dharma, we can often be guided towards listening and understanding our heart at a deeper level and as such, we can then move closer towards understanding our own divine purpose, gifts and talents. Therefore, when contemplating how you can help, it is often a good idea to look deeply within your own heart so that you can understand what kind of offering feels right for you.
- Contacting us: As a newly established chapter of Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha, we are always most grateful to hear from those wishing to help out in some way. At this early stage, we hope that this will be a time of growing the Maitri Community here in New Zealand! May we all come together, support one another and share our various skill sets and resources and may these all be used to help share the Maitri Dharma for the greatest good of all! For anyone wishing to help out, volunteer or assist in some way, we invite you to contact us for more detailed information about how you can help.
- Making a donation: For those wishing to financially assist the New Zealand Chapter of Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha, your love, kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated. All donations are received with humble gratitude and with an intention to benefit all beings. If you wish to, you can make a donation here.
How can I connect with other New Zealand devotees?
The New Zealand Chapter of Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha would like to create a strong, stable and loving platform whereby the New Zealand Maitri Community can connect with one another, share with one another, inspire one another and come together in a beautiful feeling of Maitri.
In these early stages, we have chosen to use the BSDSNZ Facebook Community as this initial platform in the hope that it can help to promote a feeling of togetherness, sharing and connection with one another.
As we continue to progress, we hope that the New Zealand Maitri Centre will also be a place of unification where all Maitri Dharma Practitioners, Truth Seekers, Dharma Lovers and Guru Devotees feel drawn to visiting. May we all take solace in a peaceful, loving and natural surrounding and may we all be guided towards more love, purity and happiness through the blessings of Maitri Dharma Guru Mahasambodhi Dharmasangha.
Guru’s World Travels
Can I help with organising Guru’s World Travels?
During the World Peace Maitri Puja in March 2017, it was wonderful to see the very early stages of ideas and proposals being shared about Guru’s World Travels. During this time, international Sangha members from all over the world were brought together into small regional and country based groups to talk about this wonderfully exciting new Dharma project.
Sangha groups were emerging from North America, Europe, China, India, Russia, Ukraine, Denmark, Thailand, South America and New Zealand (amongst others) as they came together to discuss various proposals and ideas for Guru’s travels in their particular country or region.
Over time, these Sangha groups have continued to evolve, meet & discuss and for anyone wishing to join these country or regional based groups, we lovingly invite you here to get involved as you wish. Simply email contact@bsds.org and let us know which country you live in (or contact@nz.bsds.org if you are in New Zealand) and we will do our best to help you join the most appropriate group.
Each country and region has been asked to work together in their own way and through their own methods and processes. For those who wish to join or participate in these groups, we simply ask that you please bring a feeling of loving kindness and respect so that this important work can continue to be done harmoniously and with a feeling of Maitri.
Is there a schedule available for Guru's World Travels?
At this early stage, there are still many ideas, proposals and preparations being discussed and as such, there is no fixed schedule available yet for Guru’s travels.
The process for discussing these ideas and proposals was only officially opened during the World Peace Maitri Puja in March 2017 so it is likely that this will now take some time before any formal and structured schedule can be completed.
For now, we lovingly invite all Truth Seekers, Dharma Lovers, Guru Devotees and Citizens of the World who wish to be involved with these open communications to join these country and regional based Sangha groups. May we all share in this wonderfully benevolent and highly meritorious Dharma project for the benefit of all!
If you would like to get involved, simply email us at contact@bsds.org (or contact@nz.bsds.org if you are in New Zealand) and let us know which country you live in and we will do our best to help you join the most appropriate group.
Visiting Nepal
Am I able to see Guru?
The best way to see Guru is to attend a Puja event where you will most likely be able to sit in front of Guru in the Puja tent and also receive darshan. Puja events are usually announced on the bsds.org website and if you wish to, you can subscribe to notifications here in order to receive news updates.
Alternatively, as Guru plans to travel internationally in a few years, you may wish to wait for His World Travels to begin. For those who would like to help out with the informal discussions and planning for Guru’s travels, please see the FAQ under Guru’s World Travels – Can I help with organising Guru’s World Travels?
For those who are still feeling drawn to visiting a Maitri Centre in Nepal, there is a possibility of visiting however please know that there is never any guarantee that you will meet Guru or even see Him during your stay. If you would like to visit a Maitri Centre in Nepal, we kindly ask that you fill in the Visitors’ Registration Form prior to your arrival in order to register and receive the most updated information.
The general facilities at the Maitri Centres in Nepal are still quite basic so for those visiting, it will be important that you bring your own tent, sleeping bag, torch and any other necessary items that you feel are appropriate for your stay.

Are there any upcoming Maitri Dharma events in Nepal?
Since May 2011, the Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangha organisation of Nepal has held a series of World Peace Maitri Puja events which have enabled people from all over the world to visit Mahāsambodhi Dharmasangha Guru and receive His divine blessings.
Puja events are usually announced on the bsds.org website and you may wish to subscribe to notifications in order to receive news updates as things evolve.
Currently however, the focus for the international community is centred around helping to plan and prepare for Guru’s World Travels in order to help the Maitri Dharma spread throughout the world. For example, there are already some small groups established for North America, Europe, China, India, Russia, Ukraine, Denmark, Thailand, South America and New Zealand (amongst others) who are currently discussing ideas, proposals and plans for helping these world travels to manifest.
There is still much work to be done and many kinds of assistance required so if you feel like helping out, you are most welcome to join one of these openly communicative groups and get involved. Simply email us at contact@bsds.org (or contact@nz.bsds.org if you are in New Zealand) and let us know which country you live in and we will do our best to help you join the most appropriate group.
